My name is Joshua Colton Owens.
I’m a professional basketball player, photographer, and all around creative nerd.
LAYING A FOUNDATION
At 14, I left Georgia and followed my curiosity north to New Hampshire. There I began fostering an obsession with learning around Phillips Exeter Academy’s Harkness tables. Four years later I wandered west to Stanford University where I began to develop my passions for investing, sustainability, tech and all things design. I studied Economics (BA’11) and later, Civil & Environmental Engineering (MS’12) with a focus in Sustainable Design and Construction. Of course I also shot a few hoops along the way.
Since then I’ve spent the last several years traveling the world playing professional basketball. After spending my rookie season in the NBA Development League, I went on to compete in some of the top domestic leagues across Europe including Israel's Super League, Italy's Serie A, and Turkey's BSL. Internationally I’ve had the opportunity to compete in FIBA's Basketball Champions League and Euroleague's Eurocup. For my seventh professional season, I’ve returned to Israel where I’m playing with Hapoel Jerusalem BC in Super League and FIBA Champion’s League.
BEYOND THE COURT
For me, basketball is more than a game; It’s a medium for exploring the world. Through my travels, I continue to develop my passions, discover new inspirations and learn from a rich exposure to different cultures, lifestyles and beliefs. I dedicate this space to these serendipitous travel experiences. I reflect their influences in my creative work as I document a different narrative of life as a professional athlete.
